Dr. Stephen L. Hobbs

Dr. Stephen L Hobbs has worked for the US Navy as an applied mathematician for 30 years. His work has included differential equations, mathematical physics, probability, statistics, signal processing, acoustics, and machine learning. His professional interests include studying math and helping young professionals succeed in science, technology, engineering, and mathematic (STEM) careers, and his personal interests include martial arts and meditation. 

He serves on the board of WorldHope Corps, a non-profit that provides clean water, agricultural support, and educational support in Malawi and Uganda, and he volunteers at Center for Community Solutions, a San Diego non-profit that supports victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. He received his PhD in mathematics from the University of California, San Diego in 1984, his MS in applied mathematics from UCSD in 1979, and his BA in mathematics and biology from Point Loma Nazarene University (San Diego) in 1977. He serves as the executive Board Secretary for the Lelei Foundation and will be responsible for maintaining records accurately, including meeting minutes, bylaws and membership records. Stephen will also be a leading fundraiser.
